In his opening remarks, Wayne Hay, Chair of the Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA), told the crowd, “A public, private, partnership was created with the City of Barrie over 3 years ago to jump on an opportunity to make a significant change to our Downtown”.
The BIA, The Centre of the City capital campaign spearheaded by the BIA and the City of Barrie, are the three equal financing partners in this bold development project. Based on the need to connect the waterfront to the Downtown, provide an outdoor public venue for both programmed and casual interaction and enhance a Cenotaph, the project has long been identified as a key priority of the BIA’s Brand Action Plan.
